TUT, A WOMAN?
By Calley O’Neill, 1979
Medium: Watercolor on acid-free handcrafted watercolor paper
/
Dimensions: 54” by 54” with a custom handcrafted hardwood Vermont frame
This rare and captivating oversize watercolor was meticulously hand drawn and painted by Calley O’Neill in 1980. in Vermont...The painting delves into the enigmatic story of an ancient Egyptian ruler, believed to be King Tutankhamun... Inspired by a scholarly article suggesting that the famed ruler might have been a woman, buried as she was with two fetal skeletons and occasionally depicted with feminine traits such as breasts in certain sculptures... Calley sought to explore this compelling possibility through her art.
According to the scholar whose research reflected a feminist perspective, it would not have been unusual in ancient Egyptian culture for a king to embody both masculine and feminine attributes...The fluidity of gender in this context was often tied to the divine nature of pharaohs, who were seen as living representations of balance and completeness...This interpretation added another layer of depth to the artists' fascination with the ruler’s story and sparked the creation of this piece.
Fascinated by the mysteries of ancient Egypt, the artist traveled to New York to experience the renowned "Treasures of Tutankhamun" exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art...Without an entry ticket, Calley bypassed the two-block-long line, shared her quest with the guard, and was promptly escorted inside...Immersing herself in the artifacts and their intricate details, she spent hours sketching and absorbing the essence of the sculptures, culminating in the creation of this striking work.
The work is embellished by a handcrafted frame, designed and constructed specifically for the piece, enhancing its timeless and contemplative quality...This painting has been cherished within the artist’s family for over 40 years, gracing her mother’s home in Florida before returning to its creator upon her mother’s passing.
Now, this extraordinary piece seeks a new home with someone who resonates with the profound story and artistry behind it—a collector or enthusiast captivated by the mysteries of ancient Egypt and the reimagining of Tut’s history through art.

Why Now?.....With a new vision inspired by an unanticipated change, I see how offering these paintings to private collectors will help secure the future of my current and most ambitious project, said to be the most viewed public art ever created for Hawai'i...For the last five years, I have been working on a monumental stained glass Mālama ‘Āina mural at the Kona International Airport...Mālama ʻAina is central to Hawaiian culture and means to care for and honor the land...Commissioned by the Hawai‘i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts and spanning 321 feet, this mural inspires active care of the land and sea in Hawai'i and across Mother Earth...I am honored to have won this commission out of over 300 applicants, unanimously on round one...With your support, the mural will have a powerful and lasting impact for generations to come.
After, 35 years, due to an unexpected change, I must find and fund a new studio and home in Waimea on Hawai’i Island to complete the mural's eight 12' by 40' walls over the next seven years...This is a significant challenge, but here is my clear and courageous vision: my collection of precious paintings, when purchased by visionary patrons, will find new, appreciative homes...The proceeds from these sales will directly contribute to securing a new, creative home and studio for the decade-long Mālama 'Āina mural project and all my conservation work.
.An Invitation, A Calling: By acquiring one of these original paintings, you receive profoundly meaningful artwork and become an Angel Benefactor of my life’s work in public art and conservation...You will support the creation of a permanent mural that will reach three to four million people annually through the heart of the Hawaiian culture and our healthy future...You will mālama ʻāina and help care for our shared future.

THE ANGEL GAIA
By Calley O’Neill, 1980
Medium: Politec acrylic glaze painting on Gatorfoam panel with handcrafted, gold and coconut fiber
(a'a niu) frame
/
Dimensions: 57" by 55.5"
In Greek mythology, GAIA is known as the Earth or Mother Earth (the Greek common noun for "land" is ge or ga). Gaia was an ancient Earth Goddess born from Chaos, the great spacious openness of the Universe.
Scientists James Lovelock and Lynn Margulis developed The Gaia Hypothesis or Gaia Principle in the 1970s ~ an ecological theory that describes the living Earth as a complex, coherent set of interconnected living systems...This network of life forms, their interconnections, and the geophysical world comprise a self-regulating, self-regenerating thin mantle of life known as the Biosphere...They defined Gaia as the totality of Earth's Biosphere, atmosphere, oceans, and soil, which provides biological communications and feedback to optimize and stabilize living conditions on Earth.
THE ANGEL GAIA is a powerful representation of the protection of the Earth by a strong angelic force. This vision may be interpreted as the Care of the Creation, the active love of the people for our home, a deep, sacred, protective presence, or the Oneness of our lives and the Earth.
When I completed this work, intended as the first of four EARTH ANGELS for THE RAMA EXHIBITION, I felt that I had finally succeeded in painting how I feel about life, health, the future, and what is important for our time...The other Earth Angels paintings have not been realized.
THE ANGEL GAIA is a visual prayer for the protection of nature through the awakening of human consciousness and action.
Price: The asking price for this one-of-a-kind, deeply meaningful piece is $125,000...Serious collectors and interested buyers are invited to get in touch with the artist or her representative, Mr. Murti Vinayaga, to discuss the value and details of this artwork.

These are not just paintings; they are soulful expressions of my life's purpose and commitment to the Earth, the children, and our collective vibrant future.
These paintings, created over thousands of hours and decades of focus, are imbued with rich stories and profound cultural significance...They honor the land and the timeless ecological and cultural wisdom of Hawai‘i and native cultures worldwide.
Two Rama Exhibition works are priceless,
irreplaceable Wildlife Thangka paintings created over five years in an epic collaboration with my partner, the renowned abstract painter Rama the Elephant (1983 ~ 2015) of the Oregon Zoo...These exceptionally rare works carry the living breath and brushstrokes of a most remarkable Asian elephant.
EAST WEST ONE
by Calley O'Neill
Medium: Politec acrylic painting on canvas (rolled, ready to stretch and frame)
/
Dimensions: 60” by 43”
The Story: A visual meditation on the unity and interconnectedness of all life, East West One is a rare and evocative painting that speaks to the oneness of all things...Calley's intention was to bridge worlds ~ North and South, East and West, the sacred and the everyday...Through this work, she seeks to comprehend life, find balance, and discover her place within the beauty and vastness of existence...This spiritual inspiration, deeply rooted in Being, invites you to celebrate your place within this living planet's beauty and diversity.
Calley's process is a labor of love, involving meticulous attention to detail and a deep connection to the subject matter...She spent countless hours studying the Pacific Northwest Coast's artistic traditions, honing her skills, and infusing her work with the reverence and spiritual connection that these Indigenous art forms embody.
The Pacific Northwest Coast Indigenous peoples, the Tlingit, Haida, Tsimshian, and Kwakwaka’wakw, are master carvers renowned for their magnificently carved and painted storied totem poles...These intricate works have such vitality and power...They serve as storytellers, preserving lineage, history, and spiritual wisdom...Each one is a living record, honoring their ancestors, conveying their clan crests, and upholding one of North America's most sophisticated and celebrated indigenous art forms...This historical significance invokes respect and appreciation.
Long drawn to the presence and symbolism of Kuan Yin, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, Calley portrays her standing in peaceful repose, hands gently held in prayer...Kuan Yin radiates stillness, mercy, and boundless love, offering a silent, healing presence that invites contemplation and nurtures all beings.
As Calley prepared to move to Hawai‘i in 1980, a wise elder told her that Hawai‘i is the heart center of East and West...Calley painted this work at a time of change and transition, contemplating a world in perfect balance in Hawai'i...Little did she know how deeply the native culture would shape and nourish her journey.
Once a cherished piece in her mother Anna's collection, East West One now presents a rare and exclusive opportunity for a serious collector or patron to become its next steward.
Price: The asking price for this early exploratory work of note is $65,000...Serious collectors and patrons are invited to explore this unique offering...Please get in touch with Calley O'Neill or her Art Representative, Mr. Murti Vinayaga, for more information and to arrange for an intimate viewing of the artwork.
BOUNDLESS COMPASSION
By Calley O’Neill, 1978
Medium: Gouache (opaque water color) on raw canvas, rolled, ready to stretch and frame
/
Dimensions: 48” by 48”
The Story: To the artist, there is a deep, mysterious kinship between Kuan Yin and Mother Mary, both revered as compassionate, merciful mothers who offer protection, healing, and unconditional love. Drawn to their presence across cultures, Calley has long felt an innate connection to these divine Beings, their grace and wisdom transcending time and place.
When she was a child, Calley had a profound experience with Mother Mary that shaped her world in subtle deep ways...She was compelled to clean and restore a little hill that was a small Mother Mary chapel at her childhood St. Francis Church...She persisted in her quest even after the priest stated he didn’t trust a child to do that, accusing her of being up to some mischief.
After her 'Grampa' and gardening mentor, known in town for his beautiful garden, came to meet with the priest, permission was granted...Calley enthusiastically brought a bucket of tools, a sponge, soap and towel from 'Grampa' and got to work...After cleaning and sweeping the tiny stone staircase and bench, clearing the weeds and making it look fresh and clean, she stood at the top alone in front of Mother Mary in her stone grotto. ..As she washed Mother Mary, something mysterious and indescribable happened, leaving the little girl transfixed...She left knowing that everything was going to be okay.
The artist has sought to embed the synergistic energy of Mother Mary and Kuan Yin in this mandala...It is a tribute to Kuan Yin, known in India as Avalokiteśvara and in Tibet as Chenrezig, the Bodhisattva of Boundless Compassion...Kuan Yin's form shifted from male to female as Buddhism spread through China, Japan, and beyond ~ a constant presence of mercy and boundless blessings.
Entranced by her kaleidoscope, Calley painted the eight-fold Kuan Yin who reaches in all directions with many arms, offering protection, guidance, and blessings to all beings...Each hand is a gesture of grace, each movement an answer to a prayer...Her presence radiates outward, an endless circle of divine mercy and love.
A mandala is a Universe unto itself, a center of stillness within movement...It invites contemplation, balance, and transformation...To live with a mandala and gaze upon its center is to bring its energy inside and out...In a home, it is a reminder of the vast and endless generosity of spirit...This mandala is not just an image; it is a presence, created with the sole purpose of sending blessings...It is a meditation, a living blessing, a prayer.
Price:...The asking price for this painted mandala is $77,000...Serious collectors are invited to explore this unique offering, which includes a rare opportunity to meet the artist...Please get in touch with Calley O'Neill or her Art Representative, Mr. Murti Vinayaga, for more information and to arrange a once-in-a-lifetime sale.

THE CHINESE CHEST
By Calley O’Neill, 1990
Medium: Watercolor and enamel quadriptych, on acid-free watercolor paper, framed in gold
/
Dimensions: 42” by 42”
The Story: Long ago, when the world was still weaving its patterns into form, there stood a great Mother Tree at the center of all things...Its roots reached deep into the bones of the Earth, its branches stretched toward the sky, and its trembling leaves carried the whispers of unseen spirits shaping the atmosphere...Within each seed lay an entire ecosystem, a mandala of unfolding life, weaving itself into the great tapestry of the Biosphere.
One seed was unlike any other. ..Bathed in the deepest red, the seed was born from the heart of the Sun. This seed fell through time and space, carried by the unseen currents that move beneath all things...It drifted through the hands of emperors, sages, and artisans, each leaving an imprint upon it...Some say it was hidden in an ancient Chinese chest, waiting for the perfect moment to awaken in fertile soil...Others believe it was never truly lost, only waiting to be discovered.
At last, the seed found Earth rich enough to embrace its story...As it split open, it revealed hundreds of seeds, each carrying the essence of creation...When they sprouted, their vines spiraled outward, forming an intricate web of tendrils, blossoms., and fruits...Every flower expressed its longing for light, air, water, and bees, the true riches of Earth...The vines grew and grew, weaving connections between past and future, Earth and sky, evolution and renewal.
The red that pulsed behind the vines held the essence of birth, fire-lit passion, and the ink of ancient calligraphy...It carried the breath of emperors, the spark of artists, and the quiet devotion of monks tracing sacred circles in the sand: the lacquer-sealed timeless wisdom, the fragrant wax of forgotten seals, the unbroken thread of time itself.
In this mystical dance, an exquisite mandala took form, the essence of Earth’s Biodiversity, the most magical planet in the Universe...It was not a thing to be possessed, only experienced, like the wind and stars...Those who stood before it felt something stir within them as if they were part of its design and creation, instilling a sense of reverence and appreciation for the natural world.
Some say this painting is a fragment of that first seed, and within it lies the memory of the Great Mother Tree, the silence of all things becoming... It is still growing. Its story is not finished. It never will be; a mandala unfolding beyond the edges of time...And what we plant and nourish matters greatly to create an abundant future for the children.
Price: The asking price for this expressive origin story painting is $65,000...Serious collectors and patrons are invited to explore this unique offering...Please get in touch with Calley O'Neill or her Art Representative, Mr. Murti Vinayaga, for a private viewing of the work.
